How to Make Working from Home WORK

Being a work from home mom can be challenging.

You have to try and balance work, babies, cleaning, and just mom life in general.

I mean how do you even make time to do everything?  Especially WORK.

So here are a couple of tips I’ve learned from being a working stay at home mom.

  • Use naps to your advantage.  When the baby is sleeping, use that time to get some work done.  Trust a few naps a day can go a LONG way!
  • If you need to make more time to work.  Try staying up later after the kids are asleep, or waking up earlier before they wake up.  Even an hour of extra time will help you get things done!
  • Are they busy playing with toys or watching their favorite show?  Get your computer out to get a couple more minutes in!
  • Is Dad or Grandma available?  Ask if one of them can watch the baby while you catch up on some work.
  • If it is really hard to make time, create a set time or schedule where you and your partner (or whoever can watch them) knows that during this time to this time you’ll be busy working.  That way they can watch the kids you can get some work done!

What You Should Keep in Mind Before Starting a Business as a Stay at Home Mom

Now if you’re planning on not working for another company and want to actually start your own business, there are some things you should know before you start that little (actually pretty big) adventure.

  • First off you must keep your expectations low.  I’m not saying don’t be positive and have goals.  But don’t expect to be earning top dollar (or even any dollars) for awhile.
  • Working as a stay at home mom is HARD WORK.  Especially if you’re a stay at home mom with little children to watch.  It’s gonna be hard to make time and starting any business takes time.
  • Something that you should hear now is that it takes money to make money.  That saying is all so very very true.  It’s gonna take money to buy courses to learn how to do it, for the equipment you may need, and etc.
  • Remember that it takes a lot of time and hard work to actually have and grow a business.  Meaning you may not see any results for a while.  So don’t get too hard on yourself!

Now I don’t say these things to scare you out of doing it.  I say them because I truly didn’t know what all it took to do it (or maybe I just didn’t wanna listen) when I first started out.

I feel like knowing these things NOW and accepting them will help you in the long run.

Cause it’s gonna get frustrating at times and you may even want to throw in the towel.

But unless you really don’t want to continue on with it anymore, you’re just gonna have to be strong and stay positive!

Yes, some of these jobs for stay at home moms won’t take as long as others and may even be easier than others.  And some may take a very long time until they start earning you any money.

Working from home CAN work, you just have to remember to put in a lot of work to make it happen!
