How much screen time should they have?
The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends that children between 2-5 should only have an hour of screen time per day.
They also recommend that babies between 18-24 months should have no screen time at all unless it’s video chatting.
Too much screen time could lead to things such as sleep problems, not enough physical activity, mood problems, and weight issues.
But all-in-all this is up to you how much screen time you allow your child to have.
Screen Time Tips
With screen time it’s a good idea to use parental controls and use codes/pins for the device.
Make sure to monitor what they’re watching and playing on there and always be the one who downloads apps for them.
And never use screen time to settle down a tantrum.
If you’re looking for ways to help decrease the time that your little one spends on the screen then here are some tips for that below:
- Set screen time timers
- Don’t allow devices in the bedroom or at mealtimes
- Turn off pads and tvs 1-2 hours before bedtime
- Be an example of good screen time habits
